Early Morning Mocking

This is another companion piece for the podcast. I "drafted" this team while drinking my coffee this morning. I had not been on ESPN for a while and wanted to shake up my patterns a bit.

The room was full and oddly enough, almost all the drafters stayed versus timing out and becoming computer teams. So we see some of the really odd patterns that we get when humans are making the choices.

Josh Allen went 21st overall with Drake London and AJ Brown were still available. The same team decided to take Kyler Murray later on while only drafting two running backs. They also took Devonta Smith with Nico, Pickens and Nabers still on the board.

One team took a second QB in the 8th round. One took four QBs by the 12th round! I waited it all out to see how nuts it'd get, and ended up with Jordan Love. Not too bad considering. QB depth is very solid this season.

The draft is posted below, and you can see the "name" players going earlier here than they go on sites like Fantasy Pros or Sleeper. I decided to talk about this because I tend to frame things like we'll be facing tough competition, but in many situations, you all will be facing drafters like these. And as I always say—to the point of annoying my audience, know your league.

For me, early morning mocking is about scouting. I'm looking to see where my guys go and what happens when I pass on of my guys.

For example, I let Luther Burden go to see how far he'd fall. He made it to 6.07 when he's was generally near the 4/5 turn, before his groin injury.

You can listen to today's pod below—while you're reading. Not sure why I like that so much.

ESPN would not let me copy the whole board but I was able to get it in two pieces. Apologies for the break. My team is in the 12-hole and the team Name is Dirty Dozen. I'd have named it Rotobahn if I'd known I was going to post it!
